Homestuck

A collection of all of the songs I've ever finished for "Homestuck."

Homestuck was a journey.

I first came across the works of Andrew Hussie back when he was still creating his old webcomic "Problem Sleuth." When he started up his newest project and made an open call for music that could be used at some point in the comic, I knew I wanted to do something.

So there I sat, just a few weeks into 18, composing a dinky battle theme for one of the characters (Dave Strider, for anyone curious). Although it was never used, Hussie liked it enough that I was invited into the official ranks of the Music Team. People tossed around ideas, collected opinions from others, and collaborated on each others' pieces. It was a very fun time. Never in my life would I have expected Homestuck to get such a massive reaction from the world wide web.

A lot of my early Homestuck music is very, very quick, usually just under a minute. I was brand new to composing at the time and still learning a thing or two about music theory, so I wasn't trying to bite off more than I could chew. I don't think it was until around "Scratch" (2010) where I felt like I was really making something that could impress someone.

Although Volume 2's "Vagabounce" is near and dear to my heart (as well as one of my very first compositions), I have to say that "Wacky Antics" is my favorite piece of the bunch. Not only did I get to collaborate with the fantastic Toby Fox (who did the final mastering; I handled the arrangement), but it was the one that, to me, felt the most like it could belong in a video game.

I've organized the songs by album, from earliest to latest. I never found the time to create anything for Homestuck's final collaborative effort albums (they're still amazing, please listen to them), but I will always remember what a pleasure it was to work on the team.

Enjoy.
